Hi, I'm Renata!
Many of the women I work with are used to being everything to everyone-partners, mothers, professionals, caregivers- often leaving little space to care for themselves.
Whatever you’re seeking, I’m glad you’re here.
From processing past trauma to combating the anxiety and overwhelm that can come with being everything to everybody, I specialize in helping women (re)gain a sense of calm, joy, and self amid the struggles of being human.
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I believe good therapy is both challenging and warm, providing structure while honoring your unique experience with empathy. It is a collaborative process built on connection, vulnerability, and trust, in which we use personalized, evidence-based tools to promote meaningful change through compassionate self-reflection and authentic conversation.
Therapy is an investment of your time, finances, and emotional energy. It is my honor to support you as you navigate the complexities of your experience so you can live your best life- whatever that looks like for you.

A deeper dive into my personal and professional journey:
I didn’t set out to become a therapist. My path began with a deep curiosity about people and the complexity of the human experience. That curiosity led me to earn my bachelor’s degree in psychology from San Diego State University and my master’s degree in Family/Systems Therapy from the University of Houston–Clear Lake. Along the way, I began my own therapeutic journey, which freed me from limiting beliefs and fears I didn’t even know I carried. Nearly two decades later, I feel immense gratitude to have stumbled into a career that allows me to support meaningful change in others.
Professionally, I began my clinical work in the nonprofit sector, where I gained extensive experience in child development and trauma treatment while providing individual, family, and group therapy across diverse settings. After becoming a mother in 2013, I pursued advanced training in perinatal mental health and have since served as both Program Director and a longtime board member of the San Diego Postpartum Health Alliance, where I developed an online course and provided community and clinical trainings on Maternal Mental Health. In 2016, I founded San Diego Mommy and Me, an in-person, supportive, and educational group series for new moms navigating the postpartum period. I’m proud that these groups continue to serve as an “essential postpartum experience” to San Diego moms.
Outside of therapy, I’m a wife and mother to two boys who bring a daily dose of chaos and joy into our lives. The ocean is my happy place, cheese is my obsession, and hummingbirds are my spirit animals.
TLDR: As a mom, I know all mothers need support. As a therapist, I’m committed to helping women receive the same care and compassion they so freely give to others. I view therapy as a collaborative process in which a good working relationship/vibe between you and me is essential. I also understand that therapy is a commitment of your resources (time/money/trust), and I greatly respect and honor that. To see whether we’re a good fit, I’d love to set up a free 15-minute consultation to learn more about you and your goals and to answer any questions you may have.
