San Diego ADHD Therapy
If your mind feels like it's holding a hundred things at once and you've started to wonder whether it's "just stress" or maybe something more, you're not imagining it.
So many of the people we work with have quietly carried this for years.
At Dr. Cassidy & Co, our San Diego ADHD specialists are here to help you feel a little less scattered and a lot less alone.
ADHD doesn't always look like the stereotype.
For a lot of the women we work with, ADHD didn't look like the typical hyperactive child in the back of the classroom. Instead, it manifested in holding everything together on the outside while feeling pretty frazzled on the inside. If that resonates, you're not alone, and you're not doing anything wrong.
Many of the women we support come to us saying something like this:
"I can hyperfocus on everyone else's needs, but I can't seem to start the one thing I need to do for myself."
"My house looks fine, but my brain feels like a browser with 50 tabs open."
"I've read all the productivity books and bought all the planners… and I still feel behind."
"I thought it was 'just anxiety,' until I started wondering if there was more to the story."
"Now that my kid is being evaluated, I'm realizing how much of this sounds like me."
If you nodded along to even one of these, you're in the right place.

Meet our San Diego ADHD therapists
Renata Cameron
Good fit for women who suspect their own ADHD, and parents raising sensitive or high-needs kids
I work with women who are used to being everything to everyone, and who are just beginning to wonder if ADHD has been part of their story all along.
ADHD is one of my core specialties, and I also support parents raising sensitive, high-needs, or ADHD kids. With nearly two decades of experience, I'd love to help you set down some of the shame and overwhelm, and find more tools that actually work for your brain, build self-trust, and cultivate a lot more compassion for your wonderfully busy brain.
Credentials: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #82017
Specialty Areas: ADHD, anxiety/OCD/ERP, life transitions, trauma/EMDR, parent coaching, postpartum.
Dr. Niki Sarrafian
Good fit for adults making sense of a later-in-life ADHD diagnosis and how it shows up in identity and relationships
As a licensed clinical psychologist, I love helping adults connect the dots, especially the ones realizing later in life that ADHD may explain so much of what they've quietly struggled with.
A new understanding like this can stir up big feelings about who you are, how you show up in your relationships, and the story you've carried about yourself.
Together, we'll move from self-criticism toward self-understanding, leaning into your strengths and the strategies that fit naturally into your real life.
Credentials: Licensed Psychologist #33628
Specialty Areas: ADHD, identity, anxiety, depression, couples, life transitions, postpartum
Mackenna Minehan
Good fit for adults ready to heal the shame and old self-beliefs that years of ADHD can leave behind
Living with ADHD for years, especially when it goes unnamed, often leaves behind a quiet layer of shame and old beliefs like "I'm lazy" or "something's wrong with me."
My approach is grounded in CBT, so we’ll both build tools to support focus and follow-through and gently challenge the thought patterns and beliefs that keep you feeling stuck in shame.
We'll tend to both the day-to-day and what's underneath it, at a pace that feels right for you.
Credentials: Licensed Clinical Social Worker #117772
Specialty Areas: ADHD, trauma, parenting, postpartum, anxiety, depression, couples
What sets our practice apart from other San Diego ADHD treatment providers
We get it. Alongside our clinical expertise, we bring a lived experience to this work that many of the people we support find invaluable.
We see the person, not the label. We care far more about understanding how your brain actually works than about placing you in a box.
Therapy that fits a full life. We offer convenient virtual sessions—including evening hours—across California so support can fit into your already-full schedule.
A whole team to choose from. If one therapist doesn't feel like quite the right match, we'll help you find one who is.
Founder & team are experts in their fields. Our founder is the author of Mom Needs a Moment and host of the top-rated Holding Space podcast, and other team members serve on local boards, have hosted Ted Talks, and written books.
What sets our practice apart from other San Diego therapy practices
Founder with lived experience. Our founder has been in practice since 2011 and runs a multi-stream business of her own, so we intimately understand an entrepreneur's mental load.
A team who actually gets it. Our clinicians include a published author, a TEDx speaker, and therapists who know perfectionism and ambition from the inside, so your struggles aren’t simply theoretical to us.
A whole team to choose from. Instead of one-size-fits-all, you can find the specific therapist who fits your goals, your personality, and your pace.
Specialized training that goes deep. From EMDR to anxiety and OCD/ERP, our team brings advanced training, not just general talk therapy.
Flexible, virtual-first care across California, New York, and Nevada, along with in-person availability and EMDR intensives in San Diego.
FAQs about ADHD therapy
-
Only a qualified professional can diagnose ADHD, but these are a few common experiences we notice amongst our clients with ADHD:
Chronic trouble starting or finishing tasks, even the ones you genuinely care about
Feeling perpetually behind, scattered, or like you're constantly "winging it"
Losing track of time, deadlines, or where you put your keys (again)
Hyperfocusing on certain things while everyday to-dos pile up
A lifelong sense that you have to work twice as hard just to keep up
If several of these feel familiar, it may be worth exploring further.
-
A formal ADHD diagnosis typically comes from a psychologist, psychiatrist, or physician who completes an evaluation. We focus on therapy and support rather than formal testing, but we're always happy to point you toward trusted local providers for an assessment if that's your next step.
-
Absolutely. You don't need a diagnosis to start therapy. Many clients come to us simply suspecting they have ADHD and wanting support with the overwhelm, anxiety, and self-criticism that come with it. We'll meet you exactly where you are, label or no label.
-
Therapy can help you build practical tools for focus, organization, and follow-through, while also gently tending to the anxiety, shame, and perfectionism that so often come along for the ride. The hope is for less white-knuckling and a more self-compassion.
-
We primarily work with adults, with a special heart for women and parents navigating ADHD alongside everything else on their plate. And if you're a parent of a sensitive, high-needs, or ADHD child, we offer parent coaching to support you, too.
-
We don't offer formal ADHD testing or psychological assessments at this time—our specialty is therapy and ongoing support. If testing is what you're looking for, we're glad to refer you to trusted providers in the San Diego area who offer comprehensive evaluations.
-
No, our clinicians are therapists, not prescribers, so medication isn't something we offer. Many of our clients pair therapy with medication managed by their physician or psychiatrist, and we're happy to collaborate with your prescriber or share referrals if you'd like to explore that route.
-
Yes, ADHD therapy is typically covered by insurance, though benefits can vary widely. At Dr. Cassidy & Co, we're an out-of-network practice, so we don't bill insurance directly, but we provide superbills you can submit for possible reimbursement. We also accept HSA/FSA, and you can opt in to use Mentaya to check your out-of-network benefits.
